Les Browning traveled with his trusted group of men for years. As the company made a cattle run from Texas to Kansas, Les met Colt, a young cook looking to find his way in the world. They hit it off immediately, but Les couldn’t get too close to Colt until the men in his party gave the okay for Colt to travel with them.  Can Colt ultimately prove himself worthy to be a part of their clique so that he and Les could be together?

Review:   Sometimes it’s hard to write a review of a short book, especially when it’s only a little over 50 pages. But, I have high praises for this book. Mr. Steele has taken two incredibly chiseled men, combined them with a richly detailed historical plot line and turned out a story that has made me a 100% fan for life.

Les is the head of a cattle moving posse. He’s stayed behind in Alameda while the rest of his men went on ahead. After a rough winning hand of cards, and a brawl in Tilly’s saloon, he’s ready to head on to his posse….until he lays eyes on the sexy young half Indian stranger who stirs his body.

Colt is half Indian and just trying to find a place to belong. In a time when Indians aren’t always accepted, and his choice in lovers is frowned upon by most all, he’s happy to have found acceptance in the older man he’s laid eyes on. The plus side is, Les’s posse needs a cook….the down side? He may not be accepted as easily into the posses as Les has accepted him, both in and out of the bed. After a month of lonely nights, while trying to prove himself to Buck, Les’ posse partner, can he be convinced to stay on? Or will he lose his heart forever and have to stay behind?

Finding out what went on with these two amazing characters was a wonderful journey. Both characters are vibrant and full of heart, and just want happiness.  The story is  full of meaning, hope, understanding and acceptance and a great read. I am anxious to see if Mr. Steele creates a series from this book, as I’d love to see more of the other posse members, especially Dash and Butch!
